2019 - NEW RADIO SYSTEM FOR BUTLER COUNTY |
FIRE PREVENTION &
SAFETY AWARENESS PROGRAMS
Saxonburg VFC realizes the importance of early fire safety and prevention. We work closely with our local public and private schools to conduct Fire Prevention and for students, K-12. Each year we visit and talk safety with more than 3,000 students!

Butler County current public safety radio system is more than 14 years old and has served the County very well. It is used by fire, police and medical responders daily. Although it has served us well, it is outdated and sometimes becomes overloaded.
In 2019, the system will be upgraded to a new system. This system will have additional capacity and make use of new frequencies. Although some existing equipment will work on the new system, most radios are outdated and must be replaced. |
Each Butler County Fire Station, EMS station, and police station must upgrade their radio equipment to work on the new system. The cost of this updates is likely to cost $180,000 for Saxonburg. Although Butler County is subsidizing the cost of many radios, Saxonburg will spend significant money to purchase our portable and mobile radios for the new system. |

PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE – KEEPING EQUIPMENT OPERATIONAL
Maintenance of fire apparatus is very important to keeping the units operational and extend their life. Each year Saxonburg spends more than $38,500 on regular preventive maintenance to keep our fire equipment in top operating condition. Of course sometimes we have to perform unscheduled maintenance as well. Much of this work is done with donated services and by our volunteers.
Without your donations this would not be possible… Please Donate! |
